The United States will head to Houston after winning its quarterfinal match against Jamaica on Sunday. Goals from Jermaine Jones and Clint Dempsey handed the USA a comfortable 2-0 victory over a Jamaican team that was perfect in group play and send them to the semifinals of the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Jones, a German-born midfielder making his ninth appearance for the United States, scored in the 49th minute with a shot from just outside the area that was deflected by the outstretched leg of Jamaican defender Jermaine Taylor past goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts. Dempsey added his goal in the 80th.
The Americans finished with a man advantage after Taylor was ejected in the 68th minute for a last-man foul on Jones.
