Roy Jones Jr vs Bernard Hopkins 2-II: The-Rivals Boxing FightRoy Jones Jr vs Bernard Hopkins Boxing Rematch (Live Stream Online)

Roy Jones Jr. and Bernard Hopkins first fought for a IBF middleweight title match way back in 1993. Jones Jr. won it via unanimous decision for his first title. But once again, The two Rivals will meet again for their rematch for the light-heavyweight bout on Saturday, April 3, 2010 live on Pay-Per-View (PPV) 9PM ET/6PM PT at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Boxing event is dubbed as HOPKINS vs JONES II: The Rivals. The fight will be at 175 pound limit weight.

It’s been 17 years since the last time Jones and Hopkins fought, and that fight was not exactly a thrilling fight to watch. Jones hurt his right hand early in the bout, and had to fight with mostly his left from the 2nd round on. Hopkins spent most of the fight charging Jones like a little bull, firing shots and mostly coming up empty. Jones showed brilliant hand speed and moved well in the fight to keep out of the way of Hopkins. At close range, Hopkins was able to get the better of Jones and make the fight close. However, Jones was able to dominate at will when he was motive during the fight. He seemed bored some of the time and seemed to be coasting.

The Rivals – Hopkins vs. Jones 2 Fight Recap

17 years after their first fight, ring legend Bernard Hopkins (51-5-1, 32 KOs) evened the score against 41-year-old fellow legend Roy Jones Jr. (54-7, 40 KOs) winning a foul-filled twelve round unanimous decision on Saturday night in a light heavyweight bout at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

The first five rounds were measured, tactical and sometimes dirty, but things really heated up in round six after Hopkins went down from a seemingly light rabbit punch, then furiously went after Jones, continuing to fight even after the bell and the fighters had to be restrained by security. After a Hopkins rabbit punch in round eight, Jones responded with a rabbit punch that sent Hopkins to the canvas again. Hopkins went down for a third time from a borderline low blow in round ten. Action stopped in the eleventh so the ring doctor could look at a cut Jones sustained from a headbutt, ruled unintentional.

A slow twelfth round brought boos from the crowd. In the end, Hopkins prevailed 117-110, 117-110, 118-109.
