Samantha Stosur stuns Serena Williams, advances to French Open 2010 Semifinals
7th-seed Australia’s Samantha Stosur defeated World Number 1 Serena Williams in a heart-wrenching, three-set quarter-finals battle 6-2, 6-7, 8-6, to advance to the 2010 French Open semifinals.
The American had a match point at 5-4 in the deciding set but 7th seed Stosur battled through to equal her run to last year’s semi-finals.
After that incredible win, Stosur will next face Jelena Jankovic in the semis, who overcame Yaroslava Shvedova 7-5, 6-4, over at the Suzanne Lenglen court.
