The USA vs Canada 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Hockey game event is scheduled today February 21, 2014 at around 12:00 PM ET at the Bolshoy Ice Dome, Sochi, Russia.

The United States beat Canada in the 1996 World Cup taking a best-of-three final. With Canada’s 2-1 win over Latvia in the QuarterFinals wednesday night, Team USA and Canada is set to take the ice at 12 pm EST this Friday February 21 for their semifinals. United States earn a trip to the semis after blitzing Czech Republic 5-2.

For Canada, it was a foregone conclusion they’d be here. For the United States, it was an attainable but lofty goal.

UPDATE: Jamie Benn scored in the second period, Carey Price made 31 saves, and Canada beat the United States 1-0 Friday night in the semifinals of the Olympic men’s hockey tournament. Canada advanced to the gold-medal match Sunday against Sweden, which beat Finland 2-1 in the earlier semifinal at Bolshoy Ice Dome. This is the 2nd straight gold medal game for Canada. Canada last won the gold in Vancouver 2010.
