US Open 2010: Rafael Nadal vs Feliciano Lopez
Top seed Rafael Nadal will play against 23rd seed Feliciano Lopez for a spot in the quarterfinals. The match will be played tonight 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm ET Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Flushing Meadows, New York.
Head to head Nadal leads Lopez 5-2. While both players are left=handed, Nadal at 24 is five years younger than his countryman, Lopez.
Nadal has yet to drop a set in his first three matches, although he has had to play out three tie breakers.
In contrast, Lopez has had a tougher run up to this match, having had to play a five setter, in his second match, after a straight set victory in the first. He won the third match by default after his rival, Stakhovsky, retired after a set and a half.
The last time these players met, Lopez won. So Nadal will be looking for revenge, an additional incentive for Rafa, as he continues on his path to what could be his first US Open title.
