Former Dallas Cowboys Coach Wade PhillipsAfter another embarrassing defeat on primetime television, Sunday Night Football Week 9, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had seen enough of the Wade Phillips era in Dallas and was fired on Monday.

Wade Phillips, after 3 1/2 season as head coach, was replaced by offensive coordinator Jason Garrett on an interim basis. Defensive line coach Paul Pasqualoni was promoted to replace Phillips’ other role as defensive coordinator.

San Francisco Giants wins 2010 World Series Championship

Tim Lincecum, Edgar Renteria and the San Francisco Giants won the World Series on Monday night, beating the Texas Rangers 3-1 in a tense Game 5 and taking the trophy home to the city by the Bay for the first time since 1954.

Renteria hit a tiebreaking home run off Cliff Lee in the seventh, and Lincecum pitched three-hit ball over eight innings, allowing Nelson Cruz’s solo homer in the bottom half. Brian Wilson finished for his first Series save.
