The fourth-seeded Britain’s Andy Murray beat the 10th-seeded Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in four sets 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 6-2, 6-2 to reach the Wimbledon semifinals for the second year in a row.
Murray dropped his first set of the tournament as the first half of the match was a tense affair for the Scotsman.
In the other quarterfinal match, Rafael Nadal has reached the Wimbledon semifinals by eliminating Robin Soderling in four sets. The 2nd-seeded Nadal, the 2008 champion at the All England Club, beat No. 6 Soderling 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-1 Wednesday afternoon.
Andy Murray could become the first British man in 72 years to reach the Wimbledon final if he beats Nadal in the semis.
The winner of this semifinal match will face the winner of Friday’s other semi-final clash between Tomas Berdych and Novak Djokovic.
