While there’s a chance these arch-rivals also will square off to open the postseason, there is plenty at stake Sunday with the winner claiming the NFC East title and possibly a first-round bye.
It was last year, too, when these teams met to close the regular season, with the winner getting a playoff berth and the loser going home for the winter. Philadelphia rolled to a 44-6 victory, but that game came at Lincoln Financial Field while this one will mark the Eagles’ first visit to Cowboys Stadium.
The Cowboys (10-5) are trying to win their second division title in three years and Philadelphia (11-4) seeks its first since 2006.
If the Eagles win, they clinch the No. 2 seed in the NFC and get a week to rest before beginning the playoffs. The Cowboys’ shot at the bye will be gone if Minnesota wins earlier in the day, but if the Vikings lose to the New York Giants, Dallas can get it by beating Philadelphia while Arizona loses to Green Bay.
If neither team gets the second seed, the Eagles and Cowboys very possibly would meet in the wild-card round next weekend.
The two teams last met in Week 9 this season wherein Miles Austin’s 49-yard TD catch in the fourth quarter propelled the Cowboys past the Eagles, 20-16. Last week in NFL Week 16, Philadelphia got a late field goal from David Akers to edge Denver, 30-27, while Dallas shut out rival Washington, 17-0.

Game Recap
Cowboys win NFC East with 24-0 win over Eagles.
Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys had their way with the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Their reward: the NFC East title and the challenge of trying to do it again.
Tony Romo threw a pair of early touchdown passes and the defense took over from there, sending Dallas to a 24-0 victory over Philadelphia on Sunday and setting up a rematch at their new palace next weekend.
The Cowboys (11-5) have quickly become a team nobody wants to face this postseason. This was their third straight impressive win and their most complete performance of the entire season.
The shutout also made for a major milestone in the club’s storied history: First-ever back-to-back blankings. Only twice in the previous 49 seasons had they even had two shutouts the entire season.
Philadelphia (11-5) hadn’t been swept by Dallas since 2005. The Eagles had two of their three lowest-scoring games against the Cowboys, with the common denominator being a lack of big plays. Their longest in this game was 32 yards on a first-half drive that ended in a fumbled snap. (Source: Yahoo! Sports)
