FlashForward is a science-fiction television series by ABC Studios. It is based on the 1999 Prix Aurora Award-winning novel Flashforward by Canadian science fiction writer Robert J. Sawyer. With the apparent ending of Lost in 2010, which is on its final season LOST Season 6,  ABC is  hoping it will be a companion series to the show during the final season.

ABC’s FlashForward Season 1 will have thirteen episodes.  These episodes will begin airing on Thursdays, starting September 24, 2009, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern / 7:00 p.m. Central. While in Canada, episodes will be simultaneously shown on A (owned by CTV).

David S. Goyer is executive producer/writer/director. Brannon Braga is executive producer and co-wrote the pilot. Other executive producers are Marc Guggenheim, Jessika Goyer, Vince Gerardis and Ralph Vicinanza.

Plot Summary

A mysterious global event causes everyone on the planet to simultaneously experience, for two minutes and seventeen seconds, his or her life six months in the future. During that time, each person experiences a “flash-forward” to the same date about six months into the future -  April 29, 2010. When it is over, many are dead in accidents involving vehicles, aircraft, and any other device needing human control. Everyone who survived is left wondering if what they saw will actually happen.

A Los Angeles FBI agent named Mark Benford (Joseph Fiennes) tries to figure out what exactly happened and why it happened. Along with his team, he creates a database of people’s flash forwards from around the world called the Mosaic Collective (for which a website has been launched). Apart from the various catastrophic visions, people also see themselves relapsing into various former vices; Benford seeing himself drinking again, and his wife Olivia has a vision of herself with another man.
