Denver would love nothing more than to hand Indy its first loss of the year. Will the Broncos pull off the upset? Can the Broncos sack the streak? The Denver Broncos were one of the biggest surprises in the NFL earlier this year, opening with six consecutive wins. That pales in comparison to what the Indianapolis Colts have accomplished.

The Colts seek a record-setting 22nd consecutive regular-season victory and look to clinch the AFC’s top seed Sunday when they host a Broncos team coming off back-to-back impressive wins.

With Peyton Manning having another MVP-caliber season, Indianapolis (12-0) has already clinched the AFC South for the sixth time in seven years. The only time the Colts didn’t win the division in that span was last season, when they lost at San Diego in a wild-card playoff game.

Trying to avoid a similar fate, Indianapolis is one victory away from earning home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Playing at Lucas Oil Stadium has provided a decisive advantage for the Colts, who won their 12th straight there with last Sunday’s 27-17 victory over Tennessee.

After needing fourth-quarter comebacks in each of their previous five games, the Colts scored 24 first-half points to coast to the win. Indianapolis matched New England’s record for consecutive regular-season victories while extending its own NFL record of consecutive 12-win seasons to seven.

Denver is in the thick of the playoff race following wins over the New York Giants and Kansas City, whom they outscored by a combined 70-19. The Broncos had lost four in a row after a 6-0 start – the franchise’s best since opening 13-0 in 1998.

The Broncos, atop the AFC wild-card standings, remained one game back of the Chargers in the West with last Sunday’s 44-13 win over the Chiefs.

Game Recap

Indianapolis has shoved aside New England for the NFL record for consecutive regular-season wins.

Peyton Manning threw four TD passes Sunday and the Colts’ defense held off Denver for a 28-16 victory. It gave the Colts (13-0) their 22nd consecutive regular-season win, one more than the Patriots’ streak that ended early last year.

The Colts also clinched the AFC’s top playoff seed and broke San Francisco’s record for wins in a decade. Indy has 114, the 49ers had 113 in the 1990s.

Denver receiver Brandon Marshall also got in on the act by breaking the single-game record with 21 receptions. He tied it on a 5-yard TD catch with 9:44 left to make it 21-16. He broke the record on the Broncos’ final play.

But Manning, who also threw three interceptions, sealed the win with a 1-yard TD pass to Dallas Clark—his third TD catch of the game—with 2:25 to go.  (Source: Yahoo! Sports)
