NFL Week 15 – Cincinnati Bengals vs San Diego Chargers
When: Sunday, December 20, 2009 4:05 PM ET
Venue: Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, CA

Cincinnati Bengals (9-4) vs San Diego Chargers (10-3) Preview

Bengals face another test. One week after visiting Minnesota, the Bengals heads to San Diego to take on the Chargers, winners of eight in a row. Following the stunning death of receiver Chris Henry, the Cincinnati Bengals will take the field with heavy hearts – a situation all too familiar to them this season.

The Bengals face the San Diego Chargers on Sunday, three days after Henry died from injuries sustained from falling out of the back of a pickup truck during what police said was a domestic dispute with his fiancee.

It is the second time death has stung the Bengals this year, as the wife of defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer died unexpectedly in October.

The teary Bengals held a somber practice Thursday, with Ochocinco wearing Henry’s white No. 15 practice jersey.

The mourning Bengals, who can lock up the AFC North title with a victory, take on a Chargers team that has won eight straight and is looking to secure its fourth straight postseason appearance.

San Diego can also secure first place in the AFC West with a Denver loss to Oakland, or with a victory and a Broncos tie. The Chargers will have a first-round bye if they beat the Bengals and Denver and New England lose or tie.

In their last meeting,  LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 104 yards and four touchdowns as the Chargers beat the Bengals in a shootout, 49-41.  Last week in NFL Week 14, San Diego made enough timely plays to leave Dallas with a 20-17 victory while Cincinnati got leveled in Minnesota, 30-10.

So, let’s all wait and watch Bengals vs Chargers live Sunday afternoon.

Game Recap

By the time the San Diego Chargers could exhale, they had clinched their fourth straight AFC West title as well as pulling out a dramatic win over the grieving Cincinnati Bengals. It was a crazy several minutes at Qualcomm late Sunday afternoon.

Nate Kaeding kicked a 52-yard field goal with 3 seconds left and the Chargers rallied for a 27-24 win over the Bengals, who got a tying 34-yard field goal by Shayne Graham 51 seconds earlier.

A few minutes after the Chargers (11-3) secured their ninth straight victory, and with several thousand fans still in the stadium, the Chargers clinched the division when Denver lost to Oakland, 19-20.

San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson drags Cincinnati Bengals safety Chinedum Ndukwe while gaining 13-yards in the second quarter of the Chargers 27-24 victory in San Diego.

Kaeding’s winning kick came after Philip Rivers moved the Chargers 46 yards in 51 seconds with no timeouts and backup center Dennis Norman snapping after Scott Mruckzkowski sprained an ankle.

San Diego clinched a playoff spot before halftime because of other results.

Cincinnati (9-5), which failed for the second straight week to clinch the AFC North, was playing three days after the death of receiver Chris Henry.  (Source: Yahoo! Sports)
