Watch Vitali Klitschko vs Kevin Johnson Live Stream Fight Online and Results
WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko is looking to make his third successful title defense of the year against unbeaten American Kevin Johnson on Saturday night in Bern, Switzerland December 12, 2009 to be shown on a scheduled tape-delayed heavyweight fight after HBO’s Boxing After Dark live action fight coverage between Juan Diaz vs Paulie Malignaggi Rematch.
Vitali Klitschko thinks he can keep improving with age. Trainer Fritz Sdunek said Klitschko (38-2, 37 KOs) has sparred 100 rounds since beating Arreola and is “physically and mentally in top form.”
Klitschko returned from a four-year injury break in October 2008 by stopping Samuel Peter to reclaim his WBC belt. He followed up that victory by stopping Juan Carlos Gomez in March and then outclassed the previously unbeaten Arreola in Los Angeles when the Mexican-American’s corner wouldn’t let him come out for the 11th round.
The Georgia-based, New Jersey-born Johnson (22-0-1, 9 KOs) earned his title shot by stopping Devin Vargas in May. At 6-foot-3 and 243 pounds, the 30-year-old challenger is conceding height and weight to Klitschko, who is 6-7 and weight in at 247 pounds.
Johnson is the No. 10-ranked heavyweight contender by Ring magazine. Klitschko is the top-rated challenger to his younger brother Wladimir, who holds the IBF and WBO belts. The brothers have promised never to fight each other.
The WBA belt is held by Britain’s David Haye, who won a decision against Russian Nikolay Valuev in Nuremberg, Germany, last month and has a mandatory first defense against John Ruiz of the U.S. Haye called out Vitali Klitschko this week, challenging him to take tougher fights.
More than 17,000 tickets have been sold for the bout in the Swiss capital’s PostFinance Arena.
