After Pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao wins The Dream Match against De La Hoya via 8th round TKO, so much talk about the next fight of Pacquiao (48-3-2, 36 KOs) would be Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton (45-1, 32 KOs). Indeed, this was on the news for 2 week now and it’s scorching hot as a topic now. The much anticipated boxing match/showdown between Pacquiao vs Hatton is now in the final stage or is now close to finalizing a deal to meet in a 140-pound (63.5-kilogram) bout on May 2, 2009 9PM ET/6PM PT at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

But there is someone who is also interested to fight Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. Floyd Mayweather Jr., said he would come out from his retirement, is considering fighting Pacquiao in the ring also. But I guess this Pacquiao vs Mayweather Jr. fight would be on queue or sidelined first. If Pacquiao beats Hatton, this will cement him a pound-for-pound crown and this will lure Floyd out of retirement. Of course, the fans and experts are expected to mount a call for a fight between the Filipino and Mayweather Jr., the former pound-for-pound king.
Pacquiao, the reigning World Boxing Council lightweight champion, will be gunning for a fifth weight crown against Hatton, who holds the International Boxing Organization junior welterweight belt. Pacquiao would move back down one weight class to face Hatton, the hard-living English star who won his last bout against Paulie Malignaggi on Nov. 22, 2008 defending his 140-pound (63.5-kilogram) title. Hatton won twice this year after the only loss of his career, to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in December 2007.
This proposed fight would match boxing’s unofficial pound-for-pound champion against one of the world’s most popular brawlers, assuredly generating big paydays for both fighters. With Manny’s following in Asia and Ricky’s support in Europe, this is a fight with tremendous global appeal, and both of them have built up a very strong following, you could say Las Vegas is the center of everything.”
Some quotes:
“My guy is on board,” Pacquiao promoter and Top Rank chief Bob Arum told Steve Lillis of England’s News of the World. “I think Ricky’s on board and I am very upbeat.”
Steve Kim of SecondsOut.com said the match is a “done deal.”
Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions that handles Hatton’s fight, also said that the fight has been virtually green-lighted.
“If Floyd considers something, it would be the biggest thing,” Ellerbe told ESPN.com.
But Ellerbe said that Mayweather issued a little warning to Pacquiao. “Floyd said, ‘He’s a good fighter, but I’ll beat his [expletive].”
We will just hope that this fight will be final. If this will push through, mark your calendars as early as now, for this will be an exciting bout to watch. I will surely watch this fight. Talking about Hatton vs Pacquiao Live fight online streaming, I will try my best to update some links here if there’s someone who will share it with me. Also, Manny Pacquiao Vs Ricky Hatton Fight Results will also be posted here as soon as it happens.
As usual, with my past pacquiao’s boxing fight coverage such as the Pacquiao vs De La Hoya fight, I will try my best to update and do a round by round live coverage and also post their boxing fight video, same as Pacquiao-De La Hoya fight video, as soon it is available and uploaded to video sites. Relax and be updated. My prediction, as usual I go for my kababayan, Manny Pacquiao by KO on the earlier rounds. Good luck Manny.

This gonna be a very exciting fight of the year.
Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao fight would be a very nice match. I’m very excited to see this fight soon.
e send me pacquiao update video practice etc.
All I really wanted to say is if Ricky Hatton even thinks he’s going to KO pacquiao he better wake up. Pacquiao is going to cut through him like a knife through butter. And in the end he’ll be beat up so bad he’ll never want to fight again. Pacquiao in 8 by KO. The fight I want to see is with him and Mayweather.
manny will win the figth tremendously.
my fave fighters!!
But still i’ll go with PACMAN…
UNPREDICTABLE…
is this a title match? or just a money match?
@ Jerick
Yes this will be a title match. Hatton’s World Junior Welterweight Belt is on the line. Of course, boxing matches is all about money and pride.
at last the Pacquiao vs Hatton Fight is sealed. This is a very exciting fight…this is another dream fight for all of us and I am sure that Manny Pacquiao will make it to KO. Good Luck Pacman!
Hehehehehe!! PACMAN WILL BATTERED HITMAN ROUND BY ROUND!!
MABUHAY ANG PILIPINAS
GO PACMAN!
This is tough for Manny. Recently, he was focused on acting and politics. And the bout will take place at Hatton’s hometown, that’s extreme pressure.
Go Manny! Knock Hatton out.
go manny!!!but not for a fight between you and ricky hatton, but in the politics…wahahahhahahha…..
IF THE FIGHT GOES CLEAN, PACQUIAO WILL LIKELY WIN. WHILE THEY BOTH HAVE POWER, RICKY DOES NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF SPEED AND AGILITY. MANNY WILL BE DANCING AROUND NIMBLY AND UNPREDICTABLY WHILE INFLICTING DAMAGE ON THE BOMB PUNCH SEARCHING HATTON UNTIL THE LATER ROUNDS WHEN HATTON WILL BE BLOODIED AND RUNNING OUT OF GAS AND RIPE FOR THE KILL.
MY ADVISE TO MANNY: LEAVE POLITICS. YOUR PEOPLE ADORE YOU FOR BEING A BOXER. IF YOU REALLY WANT TO RUN, CONSIDER THE PARTYLIST SYSTEM. TRY TO REPRESENT SPORTS AND NOT AS A DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVE WHERE YOUR OWN ADMIRERS WILL BE AGAINST YOU..WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT.
Manny Pacquiao will summon all his arsenal in order to knock out Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton in great fashion. I bet Manny will win in knockout at Round 6.
although I bet for Hatton (a bigmac, for the sake of excitement), i know that pacquio will will
lapit na to charles, goodluck sa server! hehe, at kay manny syempre,
Oo lapit na to. less thank 2 weeks nalang. Kelangan maka-angat para kikita. hehehe. sana kaya ng server ko. Good luck dn sayo Eli.
My heart say’s Hatton will win via TKO but my brain tells me the other ay around! so I guess it’s the other way around, I hope Hatton wins though! If there is any luck!
that is too much, I think The Filipino will win but not in this round maybe the later round, or via decision!
maybe you are a fan with less knowledge of boxing.
Go Pacman! YOu can do it! We’re here to support you. We will pray for your success on this fight! Go Pacman!
God Bless Manny!
