New Orleans Saints advances to Super Bowl 44
New Orleans Saints beat Minnesota Vikings 31-28 to advance to the Super Bowl 2010, aka Super Bowl 44.
Brees and the Saints are headed to their first Super Bowl after beating the Vikings 31-28 with a 40-yard Field Goal by Garrett Hartley in overtime on Sunday in New Orleans for the NFC championship.
After a battered Brett Favre threw away the game with an interception deep in Saints territory at the end of regulation, Drew Brees guided New Orleans to the Minnesota 22. Hartley, suspended at the start of the season for using a banned stimulant, split the uprights.
Forget the Aints and the paper bag masks. The Saints (14-3) are now headed back to Miami for the Super Bowl 44 game against the Colts.
It’s the first time the top seeds in each conference made the big game since the 1993 season.
