WBC lightweight champion Edwin Valero (27-0, 27 KOs) put on a brilliant display of boxing as he dominated interim champion Antonio DeMarco (23-2-1, 17 KOs) on Saturday night at the Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. Valero was cut under the right eye in round one and suffered a nasty gash on the forehead in round two from an elbow, which cost DeMarco a point.

Valero, however, remained the aggressor as he both outpunched and outboxed DeMarco in virtually every round. The DeMarco corner finally stopped the one-sided beating after round nine.
