I just wanted to share my successful withdrawal of funds from my PayPal account to my Philippine bank account at UnionBank. I transferred my funds last January 30, 2008 around 3:00Pm in the afternoon and the funds appeared on my UnionBank account yesterday, February 1, 2008. It only took 2 days to appear on my Philippine bank account.

Note: I have been withdrawing funds many times now from my PayPal to my debit card with a $5 charge. But with this PayPal to Philippine Bank withdrawal transaction, no charge is deducted and it is fast. This is great news indeed. I will try to use BDO savings account next time when my PayPal funds is enough to be withdrawn. Get PayPal Account Now!

Again, great news is here. PayPal To Philippine Bank Accounts Withdrawal Now Available! I know it is late for me to post it here but heck this is news. I have checked and logged in to my PayPal account and it is true, in the My Account > Withdraw page, you can now see an option to directly transfer funds from your PayPal account to your bank account in the Philippines. By the way, thanks to PinoyMoneyTalk and Marhgil for the heads up.

My take on this great news

There is no charge if the transaction amount to be transferred or to be withdrawn is P7,000 or more. And a P50.00 fee if the amount to be withdrawn is P6,999.99 or less. Also, be careful when entering incorrect details about your bank account because a P250.00 return fee is charged, so make sure you input the correct information and bank codes.

What is Phishing?

Phishing is a form of identity theft that occurs when a malicious Web site impersonates a legitimate one in order to acquire sensitive information such as passwords, account details, or credit card numbers. Phishing attacks usually come from email messages that attempt to lure the recipient into updating their personal information on fraudulent, but very real looking, Web sites. My Personal Experience

Some of us use PayPal as a tool or service to pay or get paid online. Some say PayPal is easy and safe, while others disagree. As for my personal experience, I haven’t encountered any big problems yet when using PayPal but I’m prepared when that day comes(knocks on the wood, hehe). While I was checking my emails this morning, I have one unread email coming from PayPal Service. Here’s the email I received:

As you can see, It looks like a real and legit email coming from PayPal Service, the email address where it came from and the link too. So without verifying the link if it’s real or fraudulent, which I did not (bad example, don’t do this), I directly click the link included in the email. Another browser window opened and it alerted me with “Suspected Web Forgery“. Good thing I use Firefox browser, it has a Phishing Protection feature.

My Suggestions

Browse the web more securely, get Firefox with Google toolbar. Read PayPal’s Phishing Guide Part 1 – Understanding Phishing, Phishing Guide Part2 – Recognizing Phishing, and Phishing Guide Part3 – Fighting Phishing for more informations. Get PayPal account now!

Whenever you get an email about your PayPal account, the safest and easiest course of action is to open a new browser, type https://www.paypal.com, and log in to your PayPal account directly. Do not click on any link in an email that requests personal information.

I fully withdrew a total amount of $105.84 in my PayPal with a fee of $5 last October 11, 2007 and after 5 banking days, it was successfully posted in my UnionBank EON online account.

UnionBank EON CyberAccount Debit Cards

I have been using UnionBank EON CyberAccount Debit Card since October 2002, and I am on the second card now because the first one expired last October 2005. I can attest that this is a very reliable debit card, no problems so far in my online transactions. The Annual fee for this card is PHP 350 that is deducted to your account funds, that’s more or less $8.00. Please refer to the 2nd attached image, where PHP123.48 + PHP226.52 is PHP350.

Just called UnionBank Philippines Customer Service Call Center at Domestic Toll Free number 1-800-1888-2277 and ask for the 4-digit PayPal Expanded Use Number code, which is due this day since I’ve added my EON CyberAccount Visa Electron debit card last Sunday September 30, 2007. Received the 4-digit PayPal Expanded Use Number code, log-in to PayPal and verified my card.

Regarding the withdrawal process, will have to collect some money and try to transfer/withdraw to EON CyberAccount Visa Electron debit card. Stay tuned for more updates.

Start Using Your PayPal Now

To enroll your UnionBank Visa Card in PayPal, first CLICK HERE to sign up for a PayPal account. Be sure to select Philippines as the country where you live and use U.S. Dollars as the primary currency. Your online transactions will automatically be converted to Philippine Pesos when billed.

When asked to enter your credit card or debit card number, enter the full 16-character card number and then the CVV. Make sure you enter your address of record at UnionBank as your billing address. For UnionBank Visa Credit Cards, use the address that appears on your monthly statement; and for EON Visa Electron and eWallet, use the address found on your Profile Page at the unionbankph.com online banking site.

After doing this, you have completed the basic enrollment which allows you to transact online up to a maximum amount determined by PayPal, regardless of your available balance or credit limit. However, to get FULL USE* of your UnionBank card, you will be automatically enrolled in PayPal’s Expanded Use Program.

Expanded Use Enrollment

1. When you register your UnionBank Visa card, PayPal will charge you the equivalent of US$ 1.95 for expanded use. Pay Pal will credit you back the US$ 1.95 amount on your first PayPal transaction. For EON and eWallet cards, your account must have the equivalent of US$ 1.95 in pesos in order for the expanded use transaction to go through when you first enroll your card.
2. You will then be issued a 4-digit Expanded Use Number. But, please allow 5 days for the Expanded Use Number to reflect on your statement.
   • For UnionBank Visa Credit Cards, you can find it on your next monthly paper statement or by viewing your Visa Transaction History online.
   • For EON Visa Electron and eWallet Card holders, please contact the UnionBank Customer Service Call Center at 84-186 and ask the customer service agent to provide you with the 4-digit PayPal expanded use code.
3. Once you have this number, go back to the My Account Overview section of the PayPal web site and click on “Finish Expanded Use Enrollment” to enter the 4-digit number.
4. Upon entering your Expanded Use code, you will receive a confirmation message indicating that your credit card has been verified.

Congratulations! Your PayPal account is now verified for Expanded Use. For outside Manila card holders, Please contact UnionBank Customer Service Call Center at 1-800-1888-2277. I’ve just talked to one of their Customer Service agent and told me to call back1 4-5 banking days to allow the Expanded Use Number to reflect on my statement. I’ve added my EON debit card last Sunday September 30, 2007, so I’ll be getting my 4-digit PayPal expanded use code tomorrow or this friday October 5, 2007. I”ll update you for more soon.
