Miss Angola Leila Lopes Infos / Bio

Leila Luliana da Costa Vieira Lopes (born February 26, 1986) is an Angolan beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Angola 2011 and Miss Universe.

Born in Benguela, Angola, to immigrant parents originally from Cienfuegos, Cuba during the war.  Lopes is a business management student in Great Britain, where she was crowned Miss Angola UK on October 8, 2010, the official representative of the Angolan community in the United Kingdom to the 2011 Miss Angola pageant.

She was crowned winner of 2011 Miss Universe in São Paulo, Brazil on September 12, 2011, becoming the first Angolan Miss Universe.  (via Wikipedia)

The 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, presented by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, will take place on Sunday August 29, 2010 8PM ET at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California and NBC will broadcast the event live.

Jimena Navarrete Rosete (born February 22, 1988) is a Mexican model and beauty pageant titleholder. She was crowned Nuestra Belleza Jalisco in Guadalajara, Jalisco, on July 16, 2009, and Nuestra Belleza México on September 20, 2009, in Mérida, Yucatán.

Born and raised in Guadalajara, Navarrete studied nutrition prior to her participation in beauty pageants. After winning her state pageant, she competed against thirty-three other contestants in Nuestra Belleza México 2009, where she obtained first place.

The new “American Idol” is Lee DeWyze, a paint store clerk who overcame his shyness and prevailed over soulful Crystal Bowersox in the singing contest’s ninth season.

Host Ryan Seacrest said on Wednesday’s finale that the 24-year-old DeWyze of Mount Prospect, Ill., edged Bowersox, also 24, of Toledo, Ohio, in viewer votes cast after Tuesday’s performance show.

Although Bowersox drew higher marks from the judges for her performance this week, the panel had reaffirmed its respect for DeWyze’s talent and his character — and the audience agreed. He’ll release a single, “Beautiful Day.”

Wednesday’s finale also marked the departure of judge Simon Cowell, walking down memory lane through film clips, a parody song by Dane Clark and the return of ex-judge Paula Abdul.

24-year-old Arab-American Miss Michigan USA Rima Fakih was crowned Miss USA 2010 beating out 51 other beauty queens in the live pageant televised at NBC TV at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Miss USA 2010 winner Rima Fakih will represent the United States in Miss Universe 2010 pageant which is going to be held on August 22, 2010 in United States. Watch out for it.

Fakih replaces Miss USA 2009 Kristen Dalton and won a spot representing the United States this summer in the 2010 Miss Universe pageant. She also gets a one-year lease in a New York apartment with living expenses, an undisclosed salary, and various health, professional and beauty services.

During the interview portion, Fakih was asked whether she thought birth control should be paid for by health insurance, and she said she believed it should because it’s costly.

“I believe that birth control is just like every other medication even though it’s a controlled substance,” Fakih said.

Philanthropically minded and academically inspired, Dearborn, Mich. resident Rima Fakih became a Great Lakes household name on September 19, 2009, when she was crowned MISS MICHIGAN USA 2010. The competition a childhood dream, winning the title of MISS MICHIGAN USA presented Rima with the opportunity to continue her pursuits of higher education, and also to positively use her position of influence to advocate community service, charity and educational growth.

Born xx of 1986 in New York, Rima was raised in Dearborn with her parents and her younger brother, Rami. A graduate of St. John’s Preparatory Catholic High School, Rima attended the University of Michigan-Dearborn where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with a minor in Business Administration. Active in the campus community, Rima served her fellow students as class senator, in addition to acting as the president of the students in the school’s Free Enterprise Group. Always reserving time for community service, Rima spent much of her college years volunteering as a social worker through various community organizations.

At the conclusion of her 2010 MISS MICHIGAN USA reign, Rima plans to begin law school with aspirations to contribute to the Service Nation campaign, an initiative that aims to inspire a new era of voluntary citizen service in America.

While Miss Michigan USA, Rima will be an advocate for breast and ovarian cancer awareness, the official causes of the pageant, and also those that happen to be very dear to her heart. Demonstrably, she is an active member of the Pink Fund, a financial assistance organization dedicated to removing the short-term financial burden from breast cancer patients, and instead directing their energies toward healing. As Miss Michigan USA 2010, Rima will serve as one of the first official pageant ambassadors for women’s self-defense awareness, educating women on the importance of taking the necessary precautionary measures to best protect and prepare themselves from unwanted situations.

In her spare time, Rima enjoys running, dancing, kickboxing, the outdoors and spending time with her family, friends and, most of all, her younger brother.

The 82nd Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will honor the best films of 2009 and will take place March 7, 2010, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. It will be televised in the United States on ABC. Actors Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin will host the show. Martin will host for the third time, after previously presiding over the 73rd and 75th ceremonies, while Baldwin will host the show for the first time. (Source)

Avatar and The Hurt Locker lead all Academy Award nominees with nine (9) nominations apiece, including Best Motion Picture and his and hers Best Directing nods for former spouses James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow. Inglourious Basterds is close behind with eight (8) , followed by Precious and Up in the Air with six (6).

Meryl Streep, up for Best Actress for Julie & Julia, extends her reign as the most nominated performer in Academy history, with her 16th nod.
