The National Hockey League (NHL) announced today the schedule for the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals between the Western Conference champion Chicago Blackhawks and the Eastern Conference champion Philadelphia Flyers.

Based on their superior regular-season performance, the Blackhawks will host Games 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, as well as Games 5 and 7, if necessary. Games Three and Four will be in Philadelphia, as well as Game 6, if necessary.

NBC will telecast Games 1 and 2 and, if necessary, Games 5 through 7 of the best-of-seven series in the U.S., while VERSUS will broadcast Games 3 and 4. In Canada, CBC and RDS will provide coverage for the entire series. All games also will be carried on Sirius XM Satellite Radio.

NHL Network, the League’s 24-hour, all-access pass to the most comprehensive hockey coverage, will feature special programming surrounding the Stanley Cup Final. NHL.com will continue to provide extensive digital coverage.

The Blackhawks are searching for their first title since the days of Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita in 1961 while the Flyers are looking for their first championship since the Broad Street Bullies socked their way to the second of back-to-back Stanley Cup titles in 1975.

GAME 1 UPDATE: Tomas Kopecky scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and the Chicago Blackhawks won a wild and high-scoring Stanley Cup opener, beating the Philadelphia Flyers 6-5 on Saturday night. Kopecky, who had been a scratch the previous five playoff games and was in the lineup because of an injury to Andrew Ladd, scored from the left side with a sharp-angled shot that beat backup goalie Brian Boucher at 8:25 of the third.Game 2 is Monday night at the United Center.

GAME 2 UPDATE: Niemi and the Blackhawks beat Flyers 2-1 to take a 2-0 lead. Antti Niemi was unflappable as the Stanley Cup finals turned defensive in Game 2. Different style of game from the opener, yet another victory for the Chicago Blackhawks. Niemi made 14 of his 32 saves in the final period and Chicago beat the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 to take a 2-0 series lead on Monday night.

GAME 3 UPDATE: The Flyers came back to force overtime and Claude Giroux scored in overtime to lead Philadelphia to a 4-3 win over Chicago, cutting the Blackhawks’ series lead to 2-1. Claude Giroux scored 5:59 into overtime.Game 4 is Friday night in Philadelphia.

GAME 4 UPDATE: The Flyers scored three first-period goals and held on for a 5-3 win to even the Stanley Cup Finals series at 2-2. Game 5 is Sunday night in Chicago and there’s no reason to think it won’t be just as intense as the first four.

GAME 5 UPDATE: Dustin Byfuglien scored two goals and had two assists as the Chicago Blackhawks got off to a quick start, got their offense untracked and beat the Philadelphia Flyers 7-4 on Sunday night for a 3-2 lead in the Stanley Cup finals.Brent Seabrook added a power-play goal and Dave Bolland, Kris Versteeg, Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp also scored for the Blackhawks. Chicago can capture the Stanley Cup for the first time since 1961 with a victory Wednesday night in Philadelphia in Game 6. A Flyers win would send the series back to Chicago for a decisive Game 7 on Friday night.

GAME 6 UPDATE: The Chicago Blackhawks have won the 2010 Stanley Cup, beating the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in overtime in Game 6 for their first championship since 1961. Patrick Kane scored the winning goal 4:10 into overtime Wednesday night, and the Blackhawks became the first team to win on the road this series.
