US Open 2009: Rafael Nadal vs Juan Martin Del Potro
World No. 3 Rafael Nadal will play against No. 6th-seed Juan Martin del Potro for a spot in the US Open 2009 Finals. This Semifinal match will be played today Sunday September 13, 2009 at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Flushing Meadows, New York.
Both players easily eliminated their quarterfinal opponents. Rafael Nadal had to endure the two-day postponement of his match against No. 11th-seed Fernando Gonzalez but eventually prevailed 7-6(4), 7-6(2), 6-0 while Juan Martin del Potro ousted Croatian Marin Cilic in four sets 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1.
Nadal leads 4-2 in their head-to-head meetings, with Del Potro capturing the pair’s last two matches on hard-courts. Regardless of what has happened in the past, no excuses will be accepted, win or lose, after Sunday’s battle.
