The 2009 MLB World Series will be the 105th edition of Major League Baseball’s championship series. The Fall Classic is a best-of-seven playoff which will be played between the champions of the National League and the American League, The Philadelphia Phillies against The New York Yankees.

The official 2009 World Series schedule is now available online and was released by Major League Baseball in anticipation of the series getting started next week October 28 to November 5.  All of the 2009 World Series games will be aired on FOX.  The first game of the 2009 World Series is scheduled to kick off on Wednesday, October 28th.

Because the American League won the 2009 All-Star game 4-3, the American League Champion (New York Yankees) have the home field advantage, for the eighth straight year, in which Game 1 will take place on October 28th at the American League’s home field.  Also, the American League Champion will get to host Game 2, and possibly Games 6 and 7 if necessary. The National League Champion (Philadelphia Phillies) will host Games 3, 4 and if necessary, Game 5.
