Coffee Break at BluGre Coffee Shop

Posted under Personal on December 29th 2007 with 3 Comments

BluGre Coffee is probably Davao City’s pioneering coffee shop founded in 1998 by husband and wife, Gatchi and Larcy Gatchalian. BluGre Coffee now has three branches. One in Landco Corporate Center, another in Matina Town Square (MTS), and lastly at SM City Davao. My wife and I have been to these branches in which BluGre Coffee Matina Town Square branch is where we always like to go to because of its environment with surrounding trees just like a small arcade mall. I always liked their Durian Larcepuccino, a cold cappuccino concoction that blends espresso and fruit durian. They also have a hot version of this called Durian Gatchpuccino. My wife loves to order their Oatmeal Fudge Bar and it is always her favorite.

BluGre, I think, is the one responsible for creating a coffee culture in Davao City because, as of now, there are so many coffee shops here you can select and have a break. That is why the coffee lifestyle experience of the Dabawenyos is great and high. BluGre also serves a variety of flavors like espresso, cafe latte, mocha and cappuccino. They also have Larcepuccino Cream, a non-coffee ice-blended drink, BluGre Shakers, a variety of shakes with and without coffee, and chocolate drinks, milk, and flavored tea drinks for non-coffee lovers. BluGre also serves specialty breads like Banana Cream Pie, Choco Dome, Oatmeal Fudge Bar, Choco Torte and many more.

Dinner at Grand Emerald Seafood Garden

Grand Emerald Seafood Garden

We had a family dinner held at Grand Emerald Seafood Garden last December 19 and was worth an experience and a review. ;) We all had a full stomach and a happy face. My wife recommended this place because they have tried it already together with their officemates and big bosses.

The great thing about living in a city is the availability of authentic international foods, be it Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian cuisine and others. The Grand Emerald Seafood Garden is a restaurant serving Chinese cuisine in Davao City‘s Victoria Plaza Car Park just beside Probinsya Restaurant at the back of Victoria Plaza Shopping Mall. There are so many Chinese restaurants we had tried here in Davao City but the Emerald’s was superb and they doesn’t disappoint. The place and environment is clean. They have a VIP area section (a closed door area) wherein they cater lunch and dinner in private. Their service was exceptional, within less than 10 minutes all our orders were served immediately. Our server answered all our questions and was friendly all the time.

All I Want For Christmas Is an iPhone

Posted under Personal, Technology Gadgets on December 8th 2007 with 14 Comments

Apple iPhoneAll I want for Christmas is an iPhone. Yes, an Apple iPhone, one of my Christmas list. Not that I am dreaming but I am asking. haha ;) .

I have been seeing a lot of reviews about Apple iPhone and I am craving to own or get my hands on one. Last June 2007, my wife and I was planning to buy a PDA phone with wifi or a smart phone because we always like going to coffee shops and browse the internet. Almost all coffee shops here in Davao is wifi hotspot. Oh this is the beauty of mobile internet, wireless. We carefully weigh the pros and cons of owning a PDA phone with wifi and a smart phone. But instead, we ended up buying a laptop.

It is just a week after we purchase the laptop when I heard about the iPhone. I didn’t think twice about its specifications and features. It is a laptop, a smart phone, an ipod, and a PDA all in 1 slim package … I must be exaggerating but it is almost near to that. The Apple iPhone, which combines a mobile phone with an iPod music player, has not yet been released in Southeast Asia. iPhones in the US are exclusively available on AT&T’s mobile network.

But the iPhone has a major drawback: the cellphone network it uses. It only works with AT&T (formerly Cingular), won’t come in models that use Verizon or Sprint and can’t use the digital cards (called SIM cards) that would allow it to run on T-Mobile’s network. So, the phone can be a poor choice unless you are in areas where AT&T’s coverage is good. It does work overseas, but only via an AT&T roaming plan. [Source: Walter S. Mossberg and Katherine Boehret]

But many were asking if iPhone can be used in the Philippines? There’s no confirmation yet from our local network carriers here and I hope they will be ready for this. There are so many speculations if iPhone can really be used as a phone but If indeed, I’m sure this will be a big hit here soon in the Philippines.

So anybody here can afford to buy me one? haha. Hurry up. :P ;)
